In October 2011, Nexus and the Ministry of Environment of the Royal Government of Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing their cooperation over the next three years to facilitate access to climate finance (including carbon finance) for projects that have real and tangible benefits for the people of Cambodia; and to establish a fair and transparent framework for climate finance (including carbon finance) interventions in Cambodia. City Developments Limited (CDL) – a property pioneer and sustainability leader in Singapore, partnered with Nexus-beyond offsetting to minimise the climate impact of the Singapore Sustainability Awards 2012 Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation. The events’ related carbon dioxide emissions were calculated and carbon credits were purchased to help partially offset the events’ carbon footprint. With over 140 members, the French Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (CCFC) engaged with Nexus to deliver a training module for its members participating in its annual career forum on “Private Sector Engagement for Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development." The training module allowed professional members of the CCFC to learn about the role of the private sector in delivering sustainable development and eradicating poverty while also promoting Cambodia’s private sector to adopt green business models that would pave the path towards a green economy. The Joint Climate Change Initiative (JCCI) is a consortium of three international organizations working in Cambodia - Forum Syd, Danish Church Aid/ Christian Aid and Cord - with the aim to build capacity of Cambodian organizations and the communities they work with in order to put a "climate change lens" on their existing program and project interventions making communities more resilient to future climate stressors. JCCI has partnered with Nexus-beyond offsetting to offset the carbon emissions of JCCI’s air travel in 2012 with the support of the New Lao Stove project developed by GERES Cambodia (Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity). As part of the Midi-Pyrénées Region’s participation in the global effort to prevent climate change, a regional carbon fund was created in 2009 to voluntarily compensate the Region’s carbon emissions through the support of charismatic carbon projects in developing countries. The Midi-Pyrénées Region has chosen to partner with Nexus to support the Biogas Program for the Animal Husbandry of Vietnam project. The support for the award winning project will bring sustainable energy and development to more than 840,000 people in Vietnam.
