Call for projects

Nexus, Carbon For Development welcomes proposals from pro poor projects with a carbon finance potential. Selected projects will be presented to Nexus ethical investment fund early 2011. Deadline to apply: August 6th

Nexus ethical investment fund:
Nexus ethical investment fund aims at proving affordable loans to pro poor projects with a carbon finance potential. During its first phase (2011 – 2013), the fund will invest €20m in 8 to 15 projects through either debt or equity instruments. Investment size will vary from €500k to €2m.
Selected projects will be entitled to join the Nexus alliance and will benefit from Nexus’ fully fledge services platform (technical assistance, capacity building, carbon asset management).

Who can apply:
Project developers dedicated to contribute to sustainable development (either nonprofit development organizations or social ventures). For example, the project can focus on the dissemination of clean and affordable technologies such as biodigesters, Improved cookstoves, water filters, etc
Sustainable forest management such as REDD project and CDM Aforestation/Reforestation projects will be eligible but through a second round of selection of projects (Early 2011)

Project eligibility criteria:
• Strong development impact (poverty alleviation, improved health…)
• Technologies eligible to existing methodologies under either the CDM, the Gold Standard or the Voluntary Carbon Standard
• Potential for scale

Successful applications will be notified at the latest by September 3rd and will be taken to the next stage which will consist of an in depth due diligence (including a field visit).
