CEDAC founder and president receives 2012 Ramon Magsaysay award

CEDAC's founder and president, Dr. Yang Saing Koma, has been selected for the 2012 Ramon Magsaysay award for “his creative fusion of practical science and collective will that has inspired and enabled vast numbers of farmers in Cambodia to become more empowered and productive contributors to their country’s economic growth.”

Dr. Yang Saing Koma is one of the six individuals whose greatness of spirit made life better for their fellowmen and for their community from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Taiwan. He will receive the Asia’s premier prize on 31st August at the Philippine International Convention Center.

The Ramon Magsaysay Award, established in 1957, is Asia’s highest honour and is widely regarded as the region’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize. The Ramon Magsaysay Award is given to persons regardless of race, nationality, creed or gender who address issues of human development in Asia with courage and creativity, and in doing so have made contributions which have transformed their societies for the better.
