Services
  • Water supply projects: several systems of water supply projects have been implemented depending on locally available resources and also the local geographical conditions and situation. Some of the systems applied are: gravity-fed system, hydraulic ram pump and other pumping system, rain water catchment (harvesting), and hand pumps.
  • Household water treatment system: some of the household treatment systems applied and disseminated in the community are: solar sater disinfection, PUR water purifier, Aquatabs for chlorination, and a ceramic filter – this system is applied as an alternative to boiling water, thus saving fuel and energy.
  • Wastewater treamtnent center: YDD, in collaboration with APEX, also provides services to hospitals and small-scale industries to treat their wastewater using appropriate technology, such as the rotary biological contactor.
  • Hospital waste incinerator: a biomass-based fuel incinerator that is appropriate for small and remote clinics or hospitals. Several different sizes are available depending on the demand and needs.
  • Microfinancing: YDD also provides small credits to small-scale entrepreneurs.
  • Gasifier: YDD, in collaboration with APEX, also developed a biogasifier that generates up to 100 kWh.
  • Jatropha: YDD, in collaboration with APEX, developed a Jatropha program on Flores Island, due to the fact that hundreds of hectares of land there were not utilized and had high potential for Jatropha cultivation. In this area, a Jatropha processing center was also established to extract the Jatropha oil for use as biodiesel.
  • Improved cooking stove: YDD has developed and disseminated an improved cookstove since 1980. Various designs have been disseminated through the national network.
  • Capacity building/training: Although YDD has no regular program for capacity building, they can provide services for capacity building and training on all the areas where YDD has expertise
