History

Created in 1977, VERC is a nongovernmental organization that works with the poorest people for the improvement of their everyday life by promoting self-reliance. VERC leads projects in the fields of education, environment, livelihood development, clean water, sanitation and hygiene promotion. They currently employ 1,500 people with 24 offices all around Bangladesh.

A. K. M. Anowar Hossain Mollah, Project Manager:

A. K. M. Anowar Hossain Mollah has been working in VERC as a project manager for over 6 years in the fields of renewable energy, household energy and indoor air pollution. He has extensive experience with participatory methodologies, women’s perception of indoor air pollution, improved cooking technologies and a deep understanding of key stakeholders in Bangladesh. He successfully implemented the VERC/Winrock project “Reduction of Exposure to Indoor Air Pollution through Household Energy and Behavioral Interventions” in Bangladesh. Under the national Network for Improved Cookstove Program in Bangladesh, Anowar leads advocacy, networking and coordination activities with local and national level stakeholders, including government organizations.
