Inheritance India was set up in 2002 by a diverse group of people united by a common vision. The vision was to evolve a system that would conserve rapidly diminishing and fragile natural resources by assigning a finite value to them and establishing their worth to the world. In the process, marginalized forest-dependent communities were planned to be integrated into the mainstream.
The group was multi-disciplinary in nature and possessed the mix of necessary skills to implement this vision. The comprised of a naturalist, a hospitality strategist, a safari camp manager, a financial planner, an environmental scientist and a media professional.
The venture opened with the conservation and reforestation of an abandoned plantation in the Western Ghats. Today the organization is involved with over 100,000 acres of bio-diverse land and has interests spread across four states of India.
