Approtech Asia is a regional network of 40 organizations in 11 Asian countries. The alliance was created in 1980 in Bangkok to increase the access of the poor to sustainable technologies and processes appropriate to their increasing needs and expanding capacities. Its primary role is to facilitate the sharing of appropriate technologies and cooperation among its member and partner organizations. The combined experiences, innovative projects and significant accomplishments of the member organizations have earned it Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Feri G. Lumampao, Executive Director:Feri G. Lumampao is currently the Executive Director of Approtech Asia (The Asian Alliance of Appropriate Technology Practitioners, Inc.). She has over three decades of development work in developing countries, with over 2 decades of progressive networking with international networks on water and sanitation, gender and energy, women in science and technology, sustainable agricultural and environmentally sound agroforestry systems, among others. Lately, she has also been part of the Training and Advocacy Team of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) that conducted international training on gender and climate change in Europe (Germany), Latin America (Grenada), Asia (Bangkok) and will conduct the same training in Africa and the Middle East in preparation for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 15) in Copenhagen 2009. |
