History

Established in 2000, the Center for rural communities Research and development (CCRD) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization working in research and development of sustainable livelihoods of the poor and marginalized groups. By the application of the most appropriate, but environmentally-friendly agricultural methods, and by both widespread participation and community involvement as well as long-term sustainability and benefits, CCRD objective is to work for  food security and poverty reduction based on VAC Integrated system and sustainable agriculture development in Vietnam.

Prizes/Awards2008: Certificate of Merit from the Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Vietnam
2005: First prize of the Environment Competition at Vietnam Innovation Days – World Bank and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment .

Services

CCRD has the national responsibility to promote the VAC integrated system and to train farmers in improved agricultural practices. Promoting animal husbandry by introduction of new advanced technologies, providing necessary tools equipmets to the local biogas service providers that are unavailable locally for biogas market development, for perfecting the “VAC system” as a closed agricultural production system without waste.

Mr.Pham Van Thanh

Mr.Pham Van Thanh, Director:

Mr Van Thanh, Pham, is the director of CCRD. Born in Vietnam, he receives in 1976 a Master in Construction from the Bucharest Civil & Industrial Construction University in Romania.

He is a member of the National Association of Vietnamese Gardeners (VACVINA), leader of CIFPEN (Civil Society Inclusion in Food Security and Poverty Elimination Network), chairman of the EASE (Enabling Access to Sustainable Energy) International Network, and member of Nexus, Carbon for Development.
